The seat

7 questions

Rear-facing infant (4–18 lb), rear-facing toddler (18–40 lb), forward-facing with harness (30–65 lb, age 2+) and high-back booster (40–100 lb, age 4+), up to 50 in tall. Your child must meet every limit for the mode you use.

Yes, from 4 lb in rear-facing infant mode with the infant insert, as long as your baby meets the height and harness-fit requirements in the MeadowShade manual.

The canopy is built onto the seat. It slides on a 5-position track, tilts to the sun’s angle and has two flip-out side visors. The fabric is UPF 50+. When you don’t need shade, slide it back out of reach.

MeadowShade is 18.25″ wide, 23.5″ deep and 31.25″ tall. It installs with lower anchors (LATCH) or your car’s seat belt, plus the top tether in forward-facing mode. Check your vehicle manual for anchor and tether locations.

Keep your child rear-facing until they reach the rear-facing weight or height limit, then move to forward-facing with harness.

No. In booster mode the high back always stays on, with your car’s seat belt across your child’s shoulder and lap.

Yes. You can add a backless booster in the bundle on the MeadowShade page, so MeadowShade stays installed in your car and the booster rides in the other one. Use it only within the booster’s own age, weight and height limits.

Safety and install

6 questions

Yes. MeadowShade is crash tested to FMVSS 213, the US federal safety standard for child car seats. The certification label is on the seat.

Yes. It’s certified for aircraft use in rear-facing and forward-facing harness modes. Booster mode can’t be used on a plane, because planes don’t have shoulder belts.

Choose lower anchors or seat belt, set the recline until the indicator shows correct, then check for less than 1 inch of movement at the belt path. Keep the MeadowShade manual open as you go.

6 years from the date it was made, printed on the seat’s label. Plastics and materials age over time, so please don’t use it past this date.

Mail or submit the registration card in the box. If there’s ever a safety recall, you’ll be contacted directly.

Follow the MeadowShade manual and NHTSA guidance: a car seat involved in a moderate or severe crash should be replaced, even if it looks fine.

Care

2 questions

Follow the care steps in the MeadowShade manual and on the fabric labels. Cupholders are hand-wash. Never wash, bleach or replace the harness straps unless the manual says so.

Only use parts and accessories that came with MeadowShade. Add-ons that weren’t tested with the seat, such as strap covers or thick inserts, can change how it performs.
